Vanuatu, filming location for the next installment of Survivor, is a South Pacific nation comprising 83 islands in a 'Y' shaped configuration, strung 780 miles along the Western front of the Pacific geotetonic plate midway between Australia and Hawaii. Its precipitous location on the Pacific 'ring of fire' explains Vanuatu's volcanic history which continues on today unabated.Vanuatu also enjoys the dubious distinction of being the Pacific nation with the highest incidence of visits by Cyclones, the most recent being that of Cyclone Ivy which passed through Vanuatu while the Survivor scouts were checking out filming locations. With such serious weather challenges it at least insures that those inhabiting these isles are strong willed survivors.



And yet it's that very strategic position that brings so much beauty to this paradise. The contrast of active volcanoes juxtaposed against tropical palm trees lining unspoiled beaches can't help but breathe life to the vision of the paradise  lost that is Bali Hai.  But Vanuatu is not a vision that is imagined, it is a reality lived by people derived of cultures so diverse, that even today a visit to each island is unique onto itself. As with most places on Earth, it is the people that enhance the physical beauty of the location. And a visit to the various islands of Vanuatu will only reinforce your faith in humanity and its ability to survive all obstacles.

The archipelago is physically divided into 3 groupings of islands. In the North there are the Torres and Banks islands, in the central region lie Espiritu Santo, Maewo to Efate, and the Southern group contains the Tafea grouping of Erromango, Tanna, Futuna and Aneityum. These are of course only about a dozen of the 83 islands that make up Vanuatu, but they compromise about 93% of Vanuatu's land mass. The 180,000 people of Vanuatu, of whom 98% are Melanesians, live on 68 of these islands.

no wonder M'sia tak bg Suvivor buat kat perairan negara kita n even Thailand pun bangkang at first ... mana taknyer, habis smua tumbuhan n aper2 ajer la ... abis ...

rasa2 pihak Survivor ada wat tanaman balik tak? or just biarkan cam tu ajer .....

muak? takde..takde..makin tak sabar adalah cuma rasanya makin lama,makin cepat..kalau tak silap last year,survivor main bulan 10 sekarang bulan 9 dah start..kira cepat gak ah ye!  cuma harap new player main betul2..takdelah menyampah tahap cipan nanti!

Since there seems to be a lot of information coming out about possible contestants, here is a place where all the information can be kept in an organized, easy updatable fashion.

NAME: Linda Caruso (by 1234cody)
AGE: 29
OCCUPATION: Deputy Sheriff, Football Player for Mass Mutiny
HOMETOWN:
INFORMATION: An NWFA Press Release on May 14 stated that Mass Mutiny football player Linda Caruso (mispelled as Carius in article) was to appear on an upcoming reality program for a major network, and that the winner would receive a million dollars. The article stated that Caruso was currently sequestered, which means that the show would not have filmed yet. While she could be on any reality show, Amazing Race 5 has already filmed, so it is probably not this, and Big Brother only awards $500,000 prize money. Contestants would probably not be sequestered this early.

INFORMATION: Went to a Vanuatu site, inquiring about edible plants, amount of rainfall, etc., and said she was a contestant on Survivor 9. However, if she did give her name, as was reported, she could be disqualified.
