2007 Writers Guild of America strike
Striking writers and supporters raise signs at a WGAW rally in Los Angeles
Writer-actor Jeff Garlin of Curb Your Enthusiasm (foreground, right) and others at a WGAW rally outside the Fox Studios in Los AngelesIf they gave us everything we had on the table right now, if they gave us everything we wanted梕verything梐nd they then made a deal with the DGA and matched it, which is what they'll do, and then they made a deal with the Screen Actors Guild and tripled it, which is typically what happens....if they did that梚f they gave us everything梠n a company-by-company basis they would be giving all of us less than each of their CEOs makes in a year. And in some cases, a lot less.
梂GA president Patric Verrone[1]
The 2007 Writers Guild of America strike is a strike by both the Writers Guild of America, East (WGAE) and the Writers Guild of America, west (WGAW) that started on November 5, 2007.[2] The WGAE and WGAW are two labor unions that represent film, television and radio writers working in the United States.
The strike is against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), a trade organization that represents the interests of American film and television producers. Over 12,000 writers are affected by the strike.[3]
The strike is expected to be prolonged; sources say that a settlement is unlikely before the start of 2008.[4] The Writers Guild has indicated their industrial action would be a "marathon." AMPTP negotiator Nick Counter has indicated that negotiations would not resume as long as strike action continues, stating, "We're not going to negotiate with a gun to our heads梩hat's just stupid."[5]
The last such strike was the 1988 Writers Guild of America strike; it lasted 22 weeks, costing the American entertainment industry an estimated 500 million dollars

kalau benda ni tak disettlekan cepat
memang kebanyakkan tv series terpaksa dihentikan sebab takde skrip
even termasuk this week
siri betty & grey anatomy tinggal 4 episode je utk ditayangkan
then of course akan ada hiatus..dan tempoh hiatus tak tau la berapa lama |

Ni some of the reason :
'WGA members claim that a writer's residuals, or profits made from subsequent airings or purchases of a program, are a necessary part of a writer's income that is typically relied upon during periods of unemployment that are common in the writing industry. The WGA has requested a doubling of the residual rate for DVD sales, which would result in a residual of approximately eight cents (up from four cents) per DVD sold'
-> Derang mintak royalty la kiranya ni..sbb kalau x sume profit tv networks je yg amik. It make sense la jugak

Kenapa listkan drama2 yg tak hit tu...tak adil betul...Drama malaysia ada yg bermutu cam Gol dan Gincu, Manjalara, baru2 ni Sadiq&Co... kalau drama2 lain cam Natasha, Dunia Baru, Dunia Anita, Puteri, Dua Hati, dll tu okey je...layan la...
drama2 luar negara tu pun sama jugak...cuba bayangkan diorang takder studio, peralatan canggih2, kostum mekap cantik, - mesti sama je kualiti drama diorang ngan kita..lagipun kalau bukan kita siapa lagi yg nak support drama2 malaysia ni.... |

sebenarnya kalau takde strike ni kebanyakkan tv series memang akan hold kejap sampai bulan 1-3 nanti...tapi kalau masalah ni tak settle, maybe lama lagilah nak tunggu tv series ni nak sambung....actually apa yg diaorang buat ni bagus..membela hak2 masing..kekuatan cerita asalnya dari skrip tu..kalau tak dihargai, memanglah diaorang bengang |
