Hi! I'm a new here. I just want to inform the latest news on Angel.
The WB, the network that aired Angel over in the US has made an announcement on 13 February 2004 that the network will not renew Angel for it's sixth season. Here is the press statement posted on the WB official site :
"For the last seven years Angel and Buffy the Vampire Slayer have been cornerstones of our network. The sum total of the work done on those shows has produced some of the proudest moments in our history. Like some of the great series that are leaving the air this year, including Frasier and Friends, the cast, crew, writers and producers of Angel deserve to be able to wrap up the series in a way befitting a classic television series, and that is why we went to Joss to let him know that this would be the last year of the series on The WB. We have discussed continuing the Angel legacy with special movie events next year, which is still on the table. In a perfect world, all of these details would be completed before this information went to the press so that we could be definitive about the show's ongoing future. But in any case, we did not want to contemplate this being the last year of Angel without giving the show the option of crafting their own destiny for this character and for this series. David Boreanaz continues to be one of the finest, classiest and friendliest actors we have had the pleasure to work with, and we hope that the relationship furthers from here. The same can be said for all the actors and producers on the show."

Season 5 looks like the final season for Angel, unless other TV networks in the US are willing to pick up Angel for it's sixth season.

I'm sorry I can't translate all this for you, but to cut it short, Angel is history. No more Angel on TV. Season 5 will be it's last season.

Dalam episode 12 (S5) ni.. Cordy dah sedar dari KOMA dia semata2 nak selamatkan ANGEL daripada EVE ngn LIDSEY (mamat musuh ketat angel dari season 1 kot, yang dah putus tangan tue)...
Tapi yang tak bestnya.. lepas je dia sedar n selamat kan angel.. then.. jeng jeng jeng.. tengok laa sendiri.. kua kua kuaaaaa
Spike bes ooo... ngn gaya dia n cara dia cakap .. acsent dia tue.. |

Oh yer.. cerita angel ni akan ditamatkan untuk selama lamanya kerana pihak warner brothers telah membuat keputusan untuk menamatkan serie angel ni... so nampaknya serie ni akan habis dalam season 5 dan tidak akan di sambung lagi kerana sambutan yang tidak mengalakan.... |

yang tak tahan si SPIKE dok kacau dia. puppet yang cute..tapi brutall!! siap gaduh2 lagi ngn si spike nih...

Bukan kerana sambutan yang tidak menggalakkan. Malahan Angel mempunyai rating yang kedua tertinggi di antara semua drama WB bagi penonton berusia 18-34 thn. WB mahu mengosongkan slot Angel untuk drama vampire yg baru pada Oktober hadapan berjudul Dark shadows. WB mahu menarik penonton-penonton baru.
The WB executives are crackheads.
Episode minggu ni memang lawak. Angel terkena spell & bertukar menjadi puppet.

Maybe ... but the story is getting repetitive cause the story line is kinda like upside down just like the buffy series .... |

IMO, the story line is not really repetitive. For season 5, the the creator & producers have to abandon the big arc story line and have to do stand alones episodes. That was one of the conditions given by The WB to the producers if they want to have Season 5, because The WB wanted to attract more viewers to the network. Another reason for Angel being renewed for it's fifth season was the migration of Spike from BtVS to Angel. Without these Angel would't be able to reach it's fifth season.
IMO, i don't think it was cancelled because of the decreasing number of viewers. The numbers viewers for the show this season has increased. I feel that the WB didn't treat the show right.
Someone posted these at the WB board. So I, Just wanted to share this. Angel's ratings did have a big growth, showing WB just doesn't like the show
