Recently came across a few Toyota Estima
with “kok kok kok” sound during cold start. After a few minutes, the sound disappears —
many think it’s fine. But it could be a sign of a loose or worn Balance Shaft. Cold engine = metal doesn’t fit properly → knocking sound.
Hot engine = metal expands → sound gone (temporarily).
Common Signs:✔ Knocking sound during cold start
✔ Sound lasts 2–5 seconds then stops
✔ Engine shakes slightly
✔ Already changed alternator / bearing — still noisy
⚠️ What Can Happen:✘ Sound gets worse over time
✘ Engine vibration increases
✘ May cause internal engine damage if ignored
